I never really noticed this feature on the Internet Movie Database (www.imdb.com), mostly because when you live in North America you don't have to notice it, but there's a "release dates" link along the side of any current and up coming release. It lists what day the movie is being released in Korea (and other places). For example, Dawn of the Dead 2004 should ostensibly be coming out in Korea May 14. So if you didn't already bit.torrent it, well, now you know.
One of the good things about movie piracy is it has at least forced studios to speed up international releases dates. Years ago a summer block buster in North America wouldn't make it to the Asian market until winter. But technology caught up with them and studios found by the time they released the movie in, say, Hong Kong, everyone had seen it on VCD.
So at least we got that going for us. |
