Hi everyone,
i have been offered 2 positions - one in Ding Ding Dang Daegu and one in an Avalon School in Gumi.
i was told by the director at the Ding Ding Dang that I would have to put on an american accent (quite difficult seen as though I'm yorkshire born and bread!)
The Avalon school sounds great and i have been assured that I am not expected to put on any accent! The only draw on this is the location in that I had really wanted to be in Daegu city.
Any advice? Anyone know anything about either of the schools / what they are like to work for etc?
Any advice/info would be much appreciated! |

My friend taught at a ding ding dong school who was also from yorkshire. He was there two months and was told to speak with a yankee accent or quit, he quit.
Why would you want to speak with an american accent when you can't due to vowel sounds. For example
ask
box
boy
socks
Andrew
The list goes on, but you get the idea. Schools like that are best to ignore. Do koreans speak with an american accent, kind of but they have their own distinct accent. English is international for christsake, if a backward school like ding ding dong can't accept that what else will they not accept!! You've been warned run for the hills!!!!!!!!!! |

Pretty sure Ding Ding Dang will look better on your resume......
Sorry I couldnt resist. Honestly they better be giving you some serious pay. You better lie out your teeth if a girl asks you where you work. |

I always laugh at Ding Ding Dang. Imagine trying to explain that one to the employer back home. I think I would be creative and at least make it a bit better. Maybe something like D-3 hagwon or some esoteric nonsense. |
