|
|
Hi. I have been reading through all the info on these forums for a while now. Thanks for all the insightful posts that have so far helped me.
I am about to start applying for the EPIK program, for August intake. I am confident I have everything in place for the application and am very eager to move to Korea - should I be accepted of course.
However, there are certain personal circumstances which may arise between now and August which would prevent me being able to move away for this intake. I would then have to look at the February or August intake next year (2012).
If I was to apply now, get accepted and then reject the offer would it affect my chances should I reapply next year? Are EPIK likely to keep me on record? If anybody has any experience of this I would be very grateful for your opinion.
I do want to apply now as there is an 80% chance I will be fine to go, but don't want to permanantly screw my chances for the future in case I am forced to reject.
Thanks |

My recruiter said that if EPIK sends you the Notice of Appointment and you do not take the position, you cannot reapply to EPIK again and your application is on record.
I think you should just apply if you're 100% sure you can go to Korea at that time. You can also consider hagwon positions if you're willing to do that. |

not true. you can decline the offer/appointment with proper notice (at least 30 days). they now have plenty of applicants so they aren't so concerned about applicants declining the offers at this time. recruiters just lose out on their commission, that's all. |

Actually, I'm pretty sure that when I got my contract, there was a message on the first page saying that I had 48 hours after receiving the contract to back out if I needed to. If you reject the contract after those 2 days, I'm pretty sure it said that you any applications in the future will be automatically disqualified. But you probably won't get a copy of your contract til around June, so if you decide that you can't go, telling them shouldn't be a problem at that point. |
