What would you say is a good budget for traveling for 3 months through Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, backpacker style (simple, budget accommodation)?

(won or USD please!)

$3000 -$5000 USD.

You may be able to squeak by on a bit less than $1000 per month but you won't be doing much or seeing much other than the inside of a cheap rooming house or a bus.

$30 per day doesn't go very far, even if you do go like a local for most things.

I've done very well on around $1,000 a month, but if you're not splitting on rooms you're going to be roughing it. I recommend finding a travel buddy.

i did 5 months on 2.5k. half of that was rooming with the gf though, so i definitely second the other bloke who said find a travel partner to share rooms. a roof over your head, along with eating/drinking, is going to be the main cost overall
