There is an agent named UbiEn who advertises some part time corporate gigs. They have been listing the same exact jobs for months. This would lead me to believe that they arent legit. They dont list a phone number so I cant confirm directly. Anybody have any experience with them? |

I remember them and its always the same jobs, either no one is good enough to fill the positions (unlikely) or they are not legit!
Id bet its the second option! |

Probably just a scam to get people to send them their resumes. |

I posted a thread a while back regarding this company (no posts). They have never responded to any of my e-mails or phone calls. Spoke to "manager" Joseph, who seemed annoyed that I contacted him directly (hence the ad now stating "NO PHONE CALLS").
Why would they pay on Worknplay to advertise just to receive resumes?

I was skeptical about the position too, but I applied anyways since I have had 7 years of teaching experience. I got called in and was interviewed by Joseph. I'm waiting for a call next week to see if Samsung approves my resume. Samsung's standards, not UbiEn's, seem quite high.
The university is quite respectable: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hankuk_University_of_Foreign_Studies
I went to UbiEn's office and it's just like any other recruiter's office; it's small and has a few employees, most of which are Korean. |

I was also called recently but I refused the job. The dates are impossible for me.
Maybe he did not list the high requirements on the ad and he chucks out all the ones without F-2 visas and/or masters. |

I think the only way to get the job would be to have some kind of F Visa status. They also asked me if I planned to stay in Korea for a long time. They are asking for a lot and not many people actually fit the criteria.
The guy should probably be more clear about the requirements. It would save everyone, including himself, a lot of time. |

Which is ironic. He sent me a mail and when I did not reply within 2 hours, he phoned me. Had I known he wrote 'no phone calls' in his ad, I would have told him off. He won't take others calls but calls people himself.

It's just business. They receive hundreds of e-mails with resumes and phone calls too. Let them sort through the resumes and then they will call the best candidates. Don't take it so personally. If he called you, they probably liked your resume and wanted to meet. It's a compliment, not a time to tell them to f* off.
Like I said, it's just business. |

Maybe I'd be more polite if recruiters in general didn't suck so much.
They act like they're your boss where actually you are their source of income.

I have had dealings with Ubien and Joseph, but he is the same as any other recruiter. When they need you they are your best friend, when they don't they ignore you. Tis the nature of the business. Anyways they like alot of recruiters advertise position for months when they are not actually available. They like to collect a stock of good candidates and send them if they feel you will get hired and make them money. |

Hi. I'm Joseph Ramos, General Manager of UbiEn.
First of all, I'd like to apologise if I or UbiEn offended anyone of gave the wrong impression.
As for our job postings, they are all legitimate. The reason we often repost job advertisements is that our clients require more than 1 candidate before selection someone and/or the course is ongoing and the client requires new instructors for each new term.
As for not receiving phone calls or replying to emails, that is no longer the case. If you send us and email you get a response that we have receive it and I will contact you to schedule an interview. As for phone calls, feel free to call us at 02 3487-2431 or my mobile phone (010-9232-2431).
Again, sorry for any misunderstanding and hope to speak with you soon. |

You don't seem to have the faith of people on here, Mr. Ramos. Good luck finding people.

For most corporate gigs you cannot do them on an E2. If you want to do corporate work I suggest you either get an C4, E5, E7 or D8 visa otherwise stick to work you can legally do. If you want to work illegally at least be smart enough to charge a premium to cover the fines you will incur.
Otherwise leave it to the F2,F4 and F5 visa holders who are legally allowed to do this. There is other work out there. |
