Hi,

I am not sure how much of Korea was affected but there were some major internet issues with SK lines in the South East yesterday due to the earthquake in Japan.

Anyway below you can find the email SK sent out and a rough (and I do mean rough) translation:

안녕하십니까 SKT2망센터 입니다.

현재 일본지진에 이어 대만 지진까지 아주 난리가 났습니다.
지진의 여파로 SKB국제 회선이 장애가 발생 되었습니다.

SKB 해외망 총 48.1G중 26.8G 장애 (기존 일본 지진 피해 7.8G + 신규 대만 피해 19G)
- 미국/영국 : 25.2G / 15.1G(기존 일본경유 7.8G + 신규 대만경유 7.3G)

- 홍콩/중국/일본 등 : 22.9G / 11.7G (신규 대만경유)

위와 같이 피해가 심각한 상황입니다.

SKB에서 데이콤이나 타 사업자로의 우회루트를 찾고 있으면 트래픽을 절체하고 있습니다.
이로인해 T2망 국제망도 영향을 받고 있습니다.


아직 MRTG상으로 자세히 보이지는 않으나 대만 지진이후로 In bound, Out bound 트래픽 모두 평소보다 많이 감소해 있는걸 확인 할 수 있습니다.

Recently, Earthquakes and Tsunamis affected both the Japan and Taiwan sea areas.

The effects of the earthquakes resulted in communication problems for the SKB international line.

The below figures show the level of interference on the international SKB circuit.

26.7G of the 48.1G connection was disrupted (7.8 G via Japan and 19G via Taiwan)

America / UK: 15.1G of the 25.2G connection was disrupted (7.8G via Japan and 7.3G via Taiwan)
Hong Kong / China / Japan etc.. : 11.7G of the 22.9G connection was disrupted (via Taiwan)

The above disruptions were of a severe nature.

SKB will try to control the traffic because Dacom or another company will work to find another way to re-route signals to sustain the quality.

To summarise the situation, our international T2 network line is damaged as shown in the below diagram

The upper blue line shows normal conditions but the sky-blue area shows current conditions.

This means we can�t accommodate heavy internet traffic presently.

One Interlocker on a 14G connection recently collapsed because of the earthquake's effects in Taiwan and a 7G line collapsed due to the earthquake's effects in Japan.

Fortunately, SKB managed to complete repairs for up to a 3.5G line by dawn today via South Asia.
