I found out from a former partner that I likely have chlamydia. What's the best thing to do in this case? Can I just get some over the counter antibiotics? Which ones? |

You should go to a doctor and get an exam. Other diseases can piggyback. It would also be good to get tested for HIV and in the future, try to be more careful. |

Well I'm living in Turkey so not sure how to go about it exactly. They might have the antibiotics just over the counter here. I haven't had sex with anyone since I found out. The guy I (perhaps) got it from was someone I was in a long term relationship with so we didn't use protection, well long term for me anyway. |

you can find out which antibiotics are used on google, and you can also find out the dosages needed. |

Can you also find out what the individual's possible allergic reactions or reactions to other medicines the person's taking at the moment are? Best suggestion is to see a doctor. I'm fairly certain Turkey has a doctor or two. |

That's really gross man.. Not only do you need get tested/treated, but you also need to sue your partner for negligentia, as you are suffereing from a physical allimant( ie lack of sex) and he is prob still out there doing "buisiness" and getting his on a regular basis.
I can't believe anyone would go and pass just around a STD so mindlessly. |

My partner didn't know he had it but recently he got married and before he did he got a test and as soon as he told me he found out.
I'm not too eager to go to a doctor since it's always a struggle to make myself understood for anything complicated like that in Turkish and English isn't so widely spoken here. I don't live in a tourist area. I could try to bring someone along to help out but then there's having to explain to people I got an STD.
I've heard that Turkey is pretty lax about things they sell over the counter so I'm thinking maybe I could just get it at the pharmacy. Of course I'm taking a chance that I may be allergic to it but maybe it's worth a shot. |

Try asking a Turkey-related forum? |

Exactly, why is this in a Korean forum? LOL. You know there are plenty medical forums on the Net. Why not check out those. |

When I was in college, I worked at Planned Parenthood, so I speak with a certain amount of authority when I say that you need to tak this seriously and see a doctor. Chlamydia can rob you of you of your fertility and if you have an STD, you are not only at an increased risk of testing positive for HIV or another type of STD, but Pelvic Inflammatory Disease as well. See a doctor ASAP. |

So, the boyfriend got checked. He's also getting married to someone else. This tells me that she may have had this problem long enough that she is very much at risk for pelvic inflammation. She should see a doctor. |

NovaKart: Is this the same boyfriend you ritualistically sacrificed an animal for? What a jerk!
I hope you can find a local doctor to help you. If you can't due to prudishness or whatever, go ahead and find specifically what drugs people use. But do get help quickly.
Best wishes. |

Yes Dorkothy, it's the same boyfriend but he didn't know that he had chlamydia until he got checked. He got married due to family pressure and I realized I didn't want to stay in Azerbaijan forever anyway This was just recently that he got checked and we've been apart since October so it hasn't really been that long. He told me as soon as we found out. He keeps wanting me to go back to Azerbaijan but I can't see how we would have much of a future together.
The Turkey forum doesn't get a great deal of traffic and people bring up all kinds of topics here. Another thing, I know some people on the Turkey forum personally, it's kind of a small group that posts regularly.
Anyway, thanks for your advice everyone, I'll get it checked out soon. |

Many doctors will prescribe doxycycline to be taken 2 to 3 times per day, for a 10 day period.
Usually, it is taken on an empty stomach with a full glass of water, 1 hour before a meal or 2 hours after a meal. Doxy is neutralized by milk, so, if it needs to be taken with milk (some sensitive stomachs cannot tolerate this drug without milk), a special variety of this drug, one that is compatible with milk, needs to be taken.
Be sure to stay out of the sun, if you take this drug.
Good luck |
