|

Hi,
The school that is hiring me is asking for the following in order to apply for an E2 Visa:
"-4 passport size photos
-original university diploma and 2 photocopies with apostille
-printed resume
-full signed contract
-copy of passport
-health statement (attached)
-recent criminal record notarized w/ apostille (http://www.apostilleinfo.com)"
But...I thought I only needed to provide an copy of my diploma with an original apostille. I don't feel comfortable releasing my diploma to any school. Is this right?
Thx |

Don't send your original for visa. They do not return it. Sounds like the school wants to keep it rather than give it for the visa process, as only one copy is enough. Do not let the school hold onto your degree as a quick search on here will show schools holding people to ransom because they have your degree. My recruiter told me to bring my degree with me when I fly to Korea and never give it to anyone but show it when needed.
People on here always say they guard their degree like their passport. |

To get out of this situation just tell your recruiter you rung immigration to make sure your documents to send are correct and they only asked you for a copy and not the original. Then pretend you know the system well and say you will bring the original with you to show the school when you arrive in Korea. |

thx for the input...this is what the school told me:
"All applicants will need to send the original diploma because the Education of Ministry in Korea request for it."
is this true |

The original is required so that they can register you with the Board of Education once you are IN Korea. You don't need to send it prior to and in fact I think most would advise against it. It is not a requirement for getting an E2 Visa. |

It is not a requirement for the visa however when you register in Korea it is. So inform them that you are bringing it with you.
So do not send it under any circumstance. |

Tell them exactly what you stated in a previous post.
"I don't feel comfortable releaing my diploma to any school".
They need it when you arrive to register which is true. Tell them you will bring it with you but you are not sending it over before. Tell them it is a deal breaker if they keep on insisting and that you will get another job. |
