What's Forever Peace like? I loved Forever War (read it recently).
Anyway, I'll give this a bump, especially for 'A Canticle for Leibowitz' a superb book. |

I find it interesting to see what people buy from this list. In my opinion, I've only lost a few of the "greats." By and large, this is a list of the "hits" of the genre But sometimes the hits don't hit everyone. Asimov, for instance, is widely sought after, but his writing is just too pedestrian for me. I know that he was writing in a more innocent era, and that he created many of the ideas that later authors developed, but his writing just doesn't catch me.
William Gibson's Sprawl Trilogy was hard to part with, but I've read it many times. I possess, but haven't yet read, Spook Country. I kinda ration his writing, temper the dreck with his genius.
Greg Bear has long been one of my favorite authors, and his stuff languished on the list until just today. Queen of Angels and Slant are phenomenal works.
Out of the rest of the list there are few that I have read repeatedly, but am I really going to continue reading the same books over and over? There are a few that I didn't bother to read... next time around.
I'm not going to recommend any books, because I really don't want to sell them, I'm only doing to make space in my small house with a big family. It has been an interesting experience seeing them go, weighing the reward of 2,000 won vs the nostalgia of some of these books which I grew up with.
oh yeah, Forever Peace is the only Haldeman book I've ever read. Liked the "science" and didn't really like the characters. It is a sequel only thematically. It is set in a completely different universe from forever war, I think. Maybe it could be in the same universe, but set an immense amount of time before the forever war. |

Well if you don't really want them to sell them, then I'd feel bad about buying any of them! I think there's about 40 or so that I'd like, but I've got a stack of books (mostly sci-fi) that I've got to read. I've started a few series so I must really finish them off.
But, saying that do you still have the Douglas Adams books, the Attanasio books, and the Steven Erikson books for sale? |

Adams, Erikson yes. Attanasio no.
Regardless of what I want to do, these books are going. The queen decrees. If not to buyers, then to a bar or I'll take 'em to my school and unleash the hounds.
'tis the passing of an era. |
