For the first time this year it has reached the warning level. It's adviced to stay indoors.

Note how rapidly the amount of dust particles increased over the last few hours. Today morning was all good but now it's pretty bad.

At least we can take some condolence that the air is coming from the west instead of from the east (Japan).

It's like the no-win scenario then.

Clean air here in Seogwipo, on the south side of Halla mountain, primarily due to a strong sea wind from the south. Don't know how long that will last. Made for blue skies this afternoon though (18 C it was, nice for the long hike we took). Rain expected tomorrow. That should be good.

Been sneezing a lot since friday morning. Have some sinus stuff going on now too.

Think it started too early to be the yellow dust?

Maybe allergies, but I don't usually get them...

Yellow dust always makes me a little homesick, where the coming of spring is a joyous time and not a lethally hazardous punishment.

I feel you on that. I just know yellow dust means a poisonous cocktail then sweaty, baking time!

Yellow dust from China found to be radioactive

March 21, 2011

A blanket of yellow dust from China covered Seoul for more than two hours Saturday. [NEWSIS]

Yellow dust blowing over Korea from China every year is believed to contain radioactive material presumed to have been leaked from nuclear power plants in the neighboring country, a state think tank said yesterday.

Small amounts of cesium-137, a highly radioactive material, have been detected in Koreas air and soil between February and April - when the dust gets most serious - over the past 10 years, the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety said in a report submitted to an opposition lawmaker

I always thought it would have trace elements in the yellow dust.

Compare Incheon to Jeju right now! I feel for you chokers up there! But I wouldn't trade fresh air for all the tea in China.
