For those who drive, I'm just trying to get a range so I don't get ripped off. How much do you pay, per year for car insurance for basic coverage?

Mine is about 380,000 this year. The first year I think I paid about 450,000. It's gone down presumably due to not claiming.

Mine is through Chartis (former AIG)

Doesn't it depend on the value of the car?

I know my little Kia Morning is only about 250,000 per year because it's only a 1 liter engine.

1st year is like 700 something, then it'll get cut in half (if you don't mess up)

Educar has been good for me. Lotte Direct has great prices too, but zero English help. Educar at least gives me a nice little wallet card to use as proof of insurance (or for reference, anyway).

I used to be with AIG (now Chartis) but I learned that they are foreigner insurance. You don't accrue a history with the Korean providers by purchasing Chartis if you want to live here a long time. On the flipside, I sometimes wonder if being with Chartis is safer for when one (American) returns home and needs to provide proof of insurance to get decent prices at that time?
