Hey,
It's that time of year again. The hair on my hands are starting to stick straight up and my eyes are rolling back.
taxes, yay.
Ok, so a few questions regarding US taxes-
1) On tax programs, how do you list your foreign address? The allotted space doesn't seem to leave much room for the whole shebang (eg ____-Gu, _________-2-Dong....etc.
2) Is the TD F 90-22.1 required, assuming you barely scratched above the minimum amount ($10,000)?
3) What's up with the Housing Exclusion. I mean, what exactly is that; do I list the market value of rent? Does this benefit me?
4) Do you list your employer's the BMCOE, EPIK, or the school?
5) Do you list gross income, or income after insurance, pension, etc have been deducted?
6)....I know I'm forgetting something.
Thanks in advance, I'm sure you're not only helping me, but other Americans who're hopelessly tearing hairs on end. |

I've used Turbotax in the past.
I list the whole address.
I've never done the TD F 90-SS.
For rent I just put what ever the allowance is from the school. I get 400,000 so I put $400.
I list my local ed office as my employer.
I use my gross salary.
I've never had any trouble. |

1) Yes, but they only leave about half an inch for me to write my ENTIRE hsuband's name as well.
2) If that's the FBAR; then yes, anything over 10K total on one day, es.
3) Nope, it counts towards your salary. If you have free housing, you have to list it. Unless your housing plus your salary is more than 91K, then you have nothing to worry about.
4) Whoever's on your contract.
5) I list AFTER taxes.
6)Probably but unless the IRS catches you, you're fine. |
