I have a job in Korea starting in July. Right now I'm in the process of getting my E-2 visa and I've been told that I will have to attend an interview at the Korean consulate in San Francisco. I live near Denver, Colorado and I can't afford to fly to San Francisco for the interview. Is there any way around this requirement? Will they allow me to do a phone interview, for example?

I would just call the consulate and ask, they were pretty friendly and accommodating when I had dealt with them.

It depends on the consulate and who you talk to. It's really hit or miss, but I've got 20 that says you have to go.

You should just try calling their office. I just got my visa from the san francisco consulate yesterday. I didn't have to do an interview. Maybe you wouldn't have to either.

SOMETIMES some of the consulates (at least in the US) will allow a video interview, via Skype. At least this used to be the case. I'm not sure anymore--my first visa was in Guam, and even though it is technically required I had no interview.
