[clueless in Korea]

Hello. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good programs to learn Korean. I work until 600pm, so woud like to study a couple nights during the week.

I live in eastern Seoul, so that would be ideal.

Any advice, though, would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, I'm in the same position. I'll be in Gwangmyeong at the end of the week and I want to make Korean lessons part of my routine early on so I don't continue being lazy about it.

What usually works better as far as learning goes: formal classes or private lessons?

most evening programs seem to be MWF or TTF and start around 7pm. not sure about anywhere specifically in the east of seoul but there are a few places around jongno/gwanghwamun and gangnam

Metro korean academy
ganada korean hagwon
seoul korean academy

i'm sure there are others, plus a lot of the big unis seem to have evening programs too.

i was at YBM and changed to Metro, more expensive but smaller classes and a lot more time to practice what you're learning.

Are there any classes that start at 9pm or later that anyone knows of in East Seoul?

On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, the Korea Foundation Cultural Center hosts free classes in Joongang Ilbo, close to Seoul City Hall Station. I've been in their classes since August of last year and I've really enjoyed them.
