Hi Guys,
I'll be studying for my GRE's this summer (as I'm preparing my students for SAT prep). Are there any big English bookstores (like Borders, Barnes and Noble, etc.)?
While I could always bring these books, or ship them online, it just doesn't seem the same thing to me.
Thanks |

There are no "big American bookstores," but you can find test prep books for everything under the sun at places like Bandi & Lunis, Kyobo and Youngpoong. They will be more expensive, but perhaps not enough to warrant lugging such big books over in your ever decreasing luggage allowances. |

best online is amazon if you have someone consolidate and forward a larger order if you are from NA........best online in korea is whatthebook.com and betterworldbooks.com........
there are some smaller retail book stores in itaewon.......
the big box book stores with english sections are kyobo at gwanghwamun and bandi and lunis at coex...... |

Bandi and Loonies (sp?) is the best I've found at COEX Mall. Get a Kindle. |

You can find some things from amazon.co.jp too (their Japanese site).
Shipping is around 25,000W which might be cheaper than the US Amazon store. |

So if I went to the Kyobo store in Kangnam or Gwangwhamun with a list of books that I wanted to order (that are still in print), would they be able to order and ship them over to Korea without any problems? Do they charge a shipping fee? Does there need to be a minimum order? This would actually be ideal for me. |

Bandi & Lunis have large bookstores in the Coex Mall and another you can access inside Jonggak station on line 1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonggak_Station |

I'd be interested in knowing this as well
edit: on whatthebook.com now and they let you order online and pick up at their store in itaewon. Takes 9 business days though so two weeks? |

I think "What the Book? in Itaewon is the best place to go to look for stuff and order stuff. The bookstore has a really good English speaking staff, the place is just a lot more personable than any other store that I've been to. |

You'd be surprised how much you can find through www.gmarket.co.kr and www.interpark.com. Kyobo's website has quite a bit in the way of English selections as well. Korean abilities and a Korean credit card may make using these website a bit more difficult. Ask a Korean coworker/friend to give you a hand, and you'll be very pleased with the amount you spend on these sites when comparing them to the insanely high prices at What The Book. |
