Hi guys, I am new here so please bare with me.
I have an interview with the HR manager of YBM ECC next week. I am freaking out because I really want this job but I always screw up when I'm asked something on the spot. Anyone who has ever had a phone interview from YBM ECC please help me - please let me know what I can expect because I am really nervous.

Thanks!

Danny will ask you some basic questions just about how old you are, if you have travelled at all, if you know anything about Korea, if you've used any drugs. He'll explain about the salary and housing.

I interviewed with him just before coming here with another job several years ago. Seemed like he was trying to convince me to take the job more than interviewing me. I took a public school job and have stuck to it ever since.

Seemed ok for a hakwon, but having never worked there, I can't say for sure. Of course these are different times in post recession Korea. So, not sure how picky they've become. I'd be curious to hear myself how they interview now. But from the last comment, it would seem that not much has changed?

Reason I ask is if I ever wanted to move to Seoul quickly and with SMOE's downsizing, other options need to be available. It might be good to take any hakwon job for a year and then network into something better. (Though I don't know what age discrimination, I'd face approaching mid 30's.)

I interviewed for a job with YBM ECC back in 2003. It was my first job in Korea and I had zero experience. The interview consisted of me being asked if I had a passport and how soon I could come. That was it. I'm sure things have changed since then.

For what it's worth, it was a great job with very few of the problems that are common to hagwons. Management treated me very well and I was always paid on time.
