Service is just plain stupid.
Two month old laptop, hdd is dead.
Went to HP and they told me 2weeks to replace.
Three months ago another Hp with international warranty hdd died, two months they said.
A year ago yet another HP hdd died still waiting for hdd replacement!![/i]

You talking international or Korean warranty on these? I can see them being treated very differently here..

For things as simple as a dead HDD, just replace it yourself. It doesn't cost much, and you get to choose the drive you replace it with, and it means not having to risk your laptop getting lost/damaged/churned up in the post/repair centre.

I've heard of so many laptops going missing, coming back badly put together, screens scratched etc I wouldn't trust sending them away unless I had to!

I fully agree.
This is a nice chance for a simple but cheap upgrade.

I have a two year old compaq that was getting wonky (usb and hdmi connections were flakey and a few other problems) and then the HD failed. Bought a new one and installed Win7 64-bit ultimate and it feels like a brand new machine with a lot more storage...
