I'm coming to Korea on a one-way ticket without a work visa. I've read that I won't be allowed into the country without a return or onward ticket. So, I think I'll just buy a ticket and then cancel it once I get there.
Which airlines offer full refunds upon cancellation? |

Things may have changed in the last few years but it used to be the only problem with a one way ticket is convincing the airline you are good to board.
I have entered Korea 3 times on one way tickets although admittedly that was a few years ago. It could have changed but I doubt it.
The problem with most airline tickets is it takes some time to get a refund. Cathay Pacific a terrible airline, took 4 months to refund a ticket they told me I had to buy when I first came to Korea. The only reason I got the refund that quickly was because I lodged a complaint with my credit card company.
If you are buy another one way ticket the cheapest option in to buy a one way ferry ticket from Busan to Fukuoka in Japan. It should cost about w115,000 (maybe USD$100) and is 100% refundable. |

IF you pay by credit card AND you bought directly from the airline ticket office you can usually get a credit back to your card in 3-5 working days (less your service charge).
If you paid cash then 30-90 days is a common delay for disbursement.
If you went through a travel website, travel agency or 3rd party then good luck getting a refund.

Chances are they'll let you in even if you don't have an onward ticket. |

My ticket was bought directly from Cathay Pacific at Hong Kong Airport as they refused to let me board without it. It was 4 months until I got my refund.
My point is check the refund conditions before you buy and don't fly Cathy Pacific ever. |

I've had airlines refuse to let me board a few times, but was eventually allowed to through a combination of firmness and a solid back story. Just say you're taking the ferry to Japan after traveling here for a couple weeks. |

I enter Korea every 6 months or so on a one way ticket. Never had a problem. As long as you have your ARC showing how much time you have left on your contract, you won't have a problem. If you are entering for the first time, bring your contract that shows the period of your sojurn. |

there is absolutely no issue if you have a contract/ARC card....but of course coming in on a tourist visa with a 1 way ticket you will likely encounter problems. |
