|
|
So my company wants me to pick a place for dinner tomorrow and they turned to their resident foreigner (me) for help. They seem hell bent on somewhere in Itaewon. Does anyone have any recommendations for a place where a group of Korean guys who like to drink can go in Itaewon that isn't the standard Korean fare?
Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks! |

Near Noksapyeong stn at the bottom of the road leading to Hyatt is Sydney Seafood (second floor). Their food has been a hit with Koreans I know and they have pitchers of beer. It'd be foreign enough but should work okay for their palate. |

How many people? Are these hard drinkin' "somaek" adjeoshis or more refined guys looking to experience something totally new? I have a few places in mind, but it really depends on the crowd you're bringing. |

Dillingers, 3 alleys, wolfhound, scrooge, geckos, roofers all fine. |

Take them to Don Valley, by Taco Bell and Cold Stone. It's in Itaewon and it's an all Korean menu. That way they can say they ate in Itaewon but they don't have to (God forbid!) get out of their comfort zone and try something new. |

With the exception that these restaurants serve fare that can be found at any TGI Friday's/Outback/Bennigan's across the city that they've probably already been to. If they're the rough and tumble "somaek" guys I was talking about before, this might fly...but if they're looking for a more unique experience, there are several more "ethnic" restaurants that would leave a better impression. |

Thank you all for the suggestions. I took them to Sydney Seafood and it was a resounding success. They don't seem to have pitchers of beer anymore but the food was absolutely on spot and the environment was fun and different from the typical Korean restaurant. I highly recommend it.
