Koreans rarely repair bicycles, they just leave the old one on the street somewhere and buy a new one. My friend who worked in bicycle repair was here a couple years ago. He would find deserted bikes and refurbish them for himself and friends. I got a couple of awesome free bikes from him. He was cleaning up the streets and providing free, environmentally friendly transportation.
If you ask me, Korea should implement something like this. There are loads of bike racks around the country with obviously abandoned junkers locked up at them.
If you're inclined at all, do your own repairs. There are lots of little junkyards around that will let you pillage their bicycle collection for parts. |

I'm curious as well. I've got a good frame that needs some new equipment attached to it.
And Korea has a bike "collection" service...leave your bike locked up outdoors for a couple of nights and *poof* it's gone. |

Where are these exactly? There's a junker on the roof of my apartment that has been abandoned but is still in decent condition minus tires/tubes. I am a master bike repair guy, but can't really true a wheel unfortunately.
But, a little elbow grease, some Simple Green and TriFlow and I'll have a decent bike. |
