I have noticed that a new apple store has opened in Hongdae, but I have yet to check it out. Does anyone know if it has a service centre like the one in Myeong Dong?

I would much rather head to Hongdae because its closer to me, so if anyone has any info on opening times, or can direct me to some, then that would be great.

If not, then does anyone know the opening times of the service centre in MyeongDong? I know I could (possibly?) go to yongsan, but my laptop is my baby, and I don't want to risk anything else going wrong with it.

Thanks!

The selection at the Coex store is much better.

What service do you need for it?

For me, Hongdae is also a closer option. If you need basic repairs or an upgrade, it should be fine there Smile

I'll say this... I'll never buy a phone cover/case from these stores again. Not Yongsan, either. I find them much cheaper in the subways for some reason. Not a bad selection, either. Jonggak station has some, if memory serves. Same leather case I paid 40,000 for in Yongsan was about 30,000 in the subway.

I think that Yongsan jacks prices on accessories because they are forced to sell the phones at a pretty low margin to compete.

This isn't a basic repair. I spilled a liquid on it, and it needs a deep clean, perhaps more. I am willing to spend the money, I just don't know if Hongdae will take it in for this kind of repair or not.

But is that the service centre on the third floor or just the general store? I have vague memories of the service centre only being open from 9-6pm, but I can't remember for sure.

If the service centre is open until 10pm then that would be great! I could go there after work today!

Here's a list of the Apple service centres in Korea.

http://www.apple.com/kr/support/center/service_eng.html

The service centre at the Ubase in Coex is until 7pm on weekdays. It might be a good idea to call AppleCare first before going to the service centre as the service centre staff are more likely to dismiss your problems outright without Apple's involvement.

Is there really a new one? That Frisbee has been there for a while, I thought.

The after-service center in the Myeong-dong Frisbee is unprofessional, bad communicators, and don't even know the basics about the Applecare extended warranty.

Just to update. - Went to Myeong Dong this morning to get it fixed and they took it in no problem. Should be fixed in about a week.

As for the above quote. Yes, they are bad communicators. They also couldn't tell me how much it would cost or even give me a ballpark figure. Oh, and they open at 11:00am, and not 10:00am as mentioned in a previous post. So I had to hang around for a while before they opened. Other than that though - a good experience! haha.

I've had them misdiagnose simple problems, argue with me about what Applecare covers, try to charge me for things that were covered under Applecare, and gotten the Applecare phone tech support people involved because they were so incompetent. They even lied to the tech support people about my computer's problem. In the end, tech support fixed me up without having to go back there, and I'll never return to that service center.

I bought my laptop into the Coex one with the service number given to me over the phone by Apple and had no problems. At least one staff member there speaks English.
