Without purposefully dieting or trying to lose weight, have you noticed a loss of weight since coming to Korea? Or weight gain? The food seems healthier, but then again, there is a lot of rice.

Just curious if the Korean diet would make a big difference in weight loss/gain.

Ahem...
What I think Cedar means to say is that by utilizing the search function, you can find previous topics with almost this precise title.

Ultimately it depends on your lifestyle. Snackers find they may not like the snack/chip options and lose weight as a result. Some people take up the drinking habit in Korea and gain. There are too many outside influences to account for whether or not you will lose or gain weight.
Use your best judgment.

since arriving to korea, are you fatter or skinnier now?

Losing weight shortly after arrival?

Too bad the OP didn't add a poll or this would've been really useful!

I credit my weight loss on the undrinkable soju, crappy beer and disappointing snack options at the convenience store. It must be a letdown to discover you have a beach bod where there aren't any good beaches Very Happy

People who come here and lose a lot of weight eating Korean food and espousing about how'healthy' it is make me wonder what the F they were shovelling into their pie holes back at home.

I lost about ten pounds my first three weeks here just from all the walking around ... up and down subway stairs and walking every morning to class in Yonsei's hilly campus. Then I gained it all back and more, probably from all the drinking.

This. I feel like i've gained a bit (not a drinker) since coming here, just under two months. Used to eat a heap more of greens/veg/fruit since it was cheap and plentiful back in Australia. Over here it's pretty much the same food fare as back home (Family's korean), but more carbs/el-cheapo-'meat', less fruit/greens. Confused

First I lost, then I gained, then I lost again (a lot), then I gained again (a fair bit), now I'm losing again.

sorry, don't know how to do the poll thing, and honestly don't have the time to figure it out. and judging by the way others rip into people on this site, i probably would have done it incorrectly and then gotten all sorts of rude comments about it :/
