I have recently been buying my rice milk at E-Mart, but I think they have discontinued it. I am out in the boonies of Gangwondo on the East Coast, but I would travel to Seoul to buy this. Does anyone know where I can get any? (soy milk and cow milk are not an option). Thanks!

I've bought something called "Rice" milk, but it turned out to contain cow's milk as well. (Only realized when I saw the cholesterol content and then read the ingred. list closer.)

I've seen goat's milk in Homeplus, which is supposed to be easier on the stomach.

Why don't you try making almond milk or your own rice milk? It's pretty easy and really yummy

If you are drinking rice milk due to being lactose intolerant or having dairy allergies, the rice milk sold at Homeplus is NOT what you are expecting. I saw it and thought that I was in heaven. I don't care for the soy milk that they have. My body can't process the proteins in dairy products, so I was really hoping to find rice milk. I bought a LOT of the rice milk, took it home and drank some. It was absolutely delicious! I got extremely sick though. I took one of the cartons to school, and asked the students to check out the ingredients for me. What in the world? It's made with whole milk! My roomie was drinking rice milk for a long time! errggghh.

I used to drink rice milk in the west. Good stuff!!

Something to ponder - With all the 40 different food types that the Koreans make with RICE!!!, one would think that rice milk would have been invented here 10,000 years ago.

rice milk is sold in almost every corner store - its called "Mokoli"

usually comes in green bottles and is cheap at approx 1,500won per litre...

Wink Smile Laughing

Usually if you go out in the mornings - you will see old Korean men sitting on the footpaths or in the parks drinking their "Mokoli" - they all understand the importance of getting their daily dose of rice milk...

This drink is available in virtually any cornerstore. Its produced from a mix of white & brown rice "reduced by enzymes" (whatever that means) & lightly sweetened with vitamins added. Purportedly a healthy drink.

Not as creamy as rice milk you get in the west but I quite like it, its got a bit of a nutty taste.

Hmmmm. A bit nutty. Is rice milk in the west made with white rice only?

Reviving this topic since it's now 2011. Anyone know where to buy almond milk? I'm guessing the Mokoli rice milk referenced is still available, though I haven't found it yet. Thanks!

Ha ha, thanks Kenglish, I'll have to try it! For anyone who might be following this I thought I'd follow up and say that it seems from what I've found that making one's own almond milk is the best way to go. It looks pretty easy from what I've googled but does require cheesecloth or a "nut milk bag." If anyone knows where to buy that here, please share! Thanks!!!

If you can ask a Korean friend the name (I don't recall), have them write down the name for the cloth that is used to make tofu. You'll probably be able to find it at a traditional market. Worst case scenario, get some winter stockings and use a piece of that.
