I know that immigration will give current E2 Visa holders a bit of a break with the criminal check and degree apostille when renewing their visa 2011. This should mean that teachers will not need anything new to renew your visa the first time in 2011. Is that if i resign with the same school or does that apply if im working for another employer as well?

Also, where is the best place to get a set of prints done if I need a new set to send in for a check?
Thanks

You are somewhat mistaken.

They seem to be giving slight breaks at immigration, but that doesnt mean you do not need the prints and degree. It just means that USUALLY you will not need it right away. You can extend and then turn it in a few weeks or a month later.

However, this totally depends on the officer at the immigration office and hw she or he is feeling. It would be a much safer bet to have all your documents ready to go before hand instead of having a crap-shoot chance at immigration that someone will say yay or nay.

If you are an american, the best place to get prints done is at the USO office at Camp Kim.

Resign (quit) or re-sign (extend/renew)?

If you are re-signing at the same school then you will probably get a waiver for your first change of status in 2011. If you need (in the future) a 2nd change of status you MAY need new documents (each case is different and I am not going to post all the possible permutations here). Ask Kimmi when you extend your E2. They will tell you whether you need a new set or not. If you do they may ask you to sign an acknowledgment of the fact.

If you are resigning then you will be allowed 1 transfer (change of status) before they demand new documents (if you are one of the ones who needs a new set). You will also need a LOR.
