I teach at a girls middle school. Every break time the sheer volume of screaming and yelling in the hallway is quite unbelievable. They will scream at the absolute top of their voice at their friend at the other end of the hallway. If their friend doesn't acknowledge them, the screaming is repeated every three seconds until she does acknowledge them. Every break time is just incredible for its noise volume. The K-teachers do nothing. I know that absolutely nothing is done quietly in Korea, but how can this behaviour be condoned? Never once back home do I recall students being allowed to tirn the hallway into bedlam.

In between classes all the teachers in my school retreat to the teacher's room. As a result, there's 1 0 minute period where the kids just RUN RIOT in the halls. It's absolute mayhem and there's no adult in sight.

Please understand.

What? You'd rather teachers clamp down on the only time during school hours students can just go wild? I think it's great they're allowed to scream at the top of their lungs.

You'd think that since Korean 'comedians' are so fond of dressing up as women Kids in the Hall would have caught on here. Oops, what am I saying. There are no gays in Korea. Just wouldn't work.

This is one of the things I like about my elementary school. Between classes the kids can run around, do some Tae Kwon Do on each other, and run out onto the soccer field for a few minutes.

At the same time many things that are cute in elementary school are horrible in junior high.

After nigh on 5 years in Korea, the only people I've ever heard this phrase from are foreigners.

Actually, it's proven that more straight men cross dress then gay men.
