Why did youtube do a deal with a Korean company to put ads at the front of its videos? Why? Why? Why? It's ruining the listening experience. When Korea gets up my nose I often turn to music on youtube as an escape. Now I must endure this before I get to my song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nD2vZfdzGg

Know what I don't like? I don't like how YouTube won't accept my regional setting of "international" and makes me reconfirm that I want to see the site in English every time I go there... and then it plays the Korean ads anyway. Why??

I gotta agree, that song you linked is truly terrible. "Sugababes" is a god-awful name for a group.

Yeah, I don't like that aggressive advertising either. A lot of people have complained about it on Youtube.

So, you like the Sugababes?

Never heard of them until someone posted this video on the Justin Beiber thread. I was looking for 'inclusive' videos for my students that made everyone feel accepted. This video was one suggestion. I actually like it. Good moral vibe.

Try Grooveshark instead MacLean. www.groooveshark.com

You don't have to worry about adverts in between songs. Also, you can register and then make your own play lists. You can then log in from any computer and it has your favorites already saved. Much more convenient than Youtube. Unless of course you really need videos to go with your music.

Yeah, those ads are annoying. And there are always some Korean emo kid strumming his guitar or singing...badly.

The worst is the ajosshi with the fake mustache screaming into the camera. Christ, if I want to listen to quiet music after teaching four classes straignt, I don't want it to begin with ajoshi yelling into the camera. Why must so many Korean commercials include an ajoshi yelling at the top of his lungs. I'll be watching a movie on tv, and there's a touching moment, then suddenly an ajoshhi appears on my screen screaming about his new ATM card or some such thing. Why must everything be noise here?

If you don't want ads before the video why are you watching them in Vevo?
Man, Vevo is famous for having ads all over the place.

Failblog also started doing ads. The worst part is the ads are like 1min and the video is 20sec. Fail.

Youtube is an awesome service. I don't mind advertisements so much as the annoying nature of the ads. Let Samsung do ads for Korean videos, and a Western company do it for others. Kommercials just don't resonate with most Westerners. The styles are just too different.

it doesn't matter if you're watching western or korean videos. most, if not all your ads will be korean. the ads are based on region, and it doesn't matter where you set your location in your youtube account. i guess they go by IP addresses

My problem with youtube is that it's ridiculously slow here in Korea (my connection, anyway). I get super fast downloads everywhere else, I've tested it upwards of 100MBs, but my connection hella fails on youtube. I've stopped using it almost entirely because of that.

I know. Korea boasts about its high level of internet connectedness and internet speed. Sorry, but my experience is the exact opposite. I'm not techy enough to know the exact reason, but my internet and youtube connections suck. The stopping midway and the twirly 'loading' thing stress me out. How about loading before running the video folks. Youtube's an awesome service - when it works. Confused

The annoying Samsung ads at the beginning are just icing on the cake.

I often complain about living in Korea. Indeed, there are many things to complain about. In fact, the slow youtube connection is one of the things I complain about. However, the blame for Youtube playing videos before they are fully loaded cannot be laid at Korea's feet.

That is, unless Koreans are secretly running Google without our knowledge. Laughing
