I stumbled across some information about Ramdisk and thought I'd ask some of you techies out there.

Is it possible to assign 4gb of RAM for Ramdisk and use it to install/run Windows 7?

How stable is it? Does it work well? Any problems etc?

I heard using it as pagefiling works well, but how about running a whole OS from it.

you're going to be very very hard pressed to fit windows 7 into 4gb. even 8gb is a stretch.

theoretically you'd need to set it up to dump your ram image onto a hard disk every time you reboot your computer and then reread it at bootup.

Doing that at each bootup defeats the purpose of having a high speed ramdisk.

You are better off with an SSD.

For all intents and purposes it's not possible to do that, however.
