People are charged with crimes. Once charged, you can motion the court for a dismissal, if the case and/or charges aren't dismissed, you're tried. Once tried you're either convicted or acquitted.

12-13 years later, you've missed your chance at getting a dismissal.

The rules in CA may allow for an expungement, which effectively removes everything from your record.

Encouraging words? I would say you spent your time here for awhile...make the best of what is left and seek new adventures elsewhere. Still try to work things out if you can stay but if it is not possible then so be it.
Hope the best for ya

It wasn't written up as a drugs violation. The charge of DUI isn't only for "driving drunk." It's driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. What you need to do is contact a lawyer to petition to have the record expunged.

Guilt is forgivable but shame is forever as it seems. In this case, I can see why Korea has such a high suicide rate. In the states we believe in second chances and such. I have work in middle school, high school with no problem. In any case, I have 8 months left to figure out my solution.

Oh, Korea believes in 2nd chances for Koreans. Teachers convicted of sexual touching or molestation are allowed to continue teaching in schools.

If you are foreign, however, you are a "threat." Hypocrites.

Those charges probably wouldn't prevent you from getting professionally certified in any field back in the US, but getting hired may prove difficult.

I would count the new regulations as a blessing.

Korea is not "it". GTFO and start your new life in a place that will actually inspire you to live and be creative.
