I just moved into an apartment in the boonies, unfortunately the cable TV doesn't work and my school is in no hurry to call them up to fix it. Instead, I spent $50 on Satellite TV software, which works OK. I have 2 computers, one I want to put in the main room and hook up to the internet TV.
The problem is, I know nothing about WiFi and was wondering if someone can clue me in. Is it difficult or expensive to set up? Where can I get a basic setup? I went to a couple of computer stores locally, but they don't speak English. Can anyone clue me in? |

Get a wireless router.
Plug it in where your computer now plugs in to the internet.
Install a wireless network card in the computer if you are using a desktop.
If you are using a notebook/laptop it should already have wireless. Turn it on.
They should connect.
You will need to read the manual for your router so you will know how to set the password to secure the network or your neighbors will also enjoy wifi at your expense.

you might be able to save a few quid and just run a network cable to the computer? It probably has LAN on board rather than needing to buy a PCI/USB solution?
Would be faster and more secure, but a bit of a wiring faff maybe?
Otherwise a wqifi router can be bought cheap from lotte/homeplus easily enough. |
