A friend of mine had one this past year, and returned it some time later. She got nearly full credit toward another phone. It kept cutting-out and losing calls. Drove her nuts. Apparently, the newer blackberries are having a hard time with the Korean network? She said it was a common problem.

Up until this year, there was only the 9000 and the 9700 in korea. they will run about 800,000w and 1,200,000w without a contract.

i had a BB 9000 last year and had no problems. I am using a 9700 this year, and i have even better reception than before.

I have many friends with blackberries and they dont have any problems either than battery life because they kept their wifi and bluetooth on all the time. i think Swampfox10mm's friend was an isolated incident...

Might be cheaper to just buy one from abroad since you can get a Bold 9700 for ~$300-400CAD.

Just so you know, you're allowed to register one international BlackBerry/phone per person at "no extra cost". I know for a fact that one of the larger SKT stores near Seokgye Station will do this for you. But it'll cost you 40,000W to "set up" the device onto the SKT network and 10,000W to get a USIM

And in addition to the data services you get (whether it's pay as you go or a monthly contract), you need to pay 12,000/month extra for BIS service to use things like BBM/FB apps.

BBM will NOT work without the BIS feature.

Also, many of my smartphone friends from home have been able to download apps like Kakao (Works on Android and iPhone OS's only) and LiveProfile/Whatsapp (Works on Android, iPhone and BlackBerry OS's). So consider getting a new Android as well.
