| Re-upped for another year last February. According to the contract, W2 million travel allowance was supposed to be paid back then. They told me they'd pay me in August. Now they're telling me NEXT month. What the hell is up with those people? If a lot of teachers leave next Feb, I wonder what kind of stunts they're going to pull then? |

Why did you let them hold on to your money that long in the first place?
Aren't you suppose to get it within 30 days after completion of the contract? At least that's what it says in my contract I recently signed. |

Let them?!? I raised hell with the school bean counter. He said they won't release the money until then, nothing he can do about it. I've made phone calls to EPIK, including the worthless teacher rep. Silence.

Isn't renewal bonus paid in lieu of travel allowance? What clause in the EPIK contract says we get both?
Let me get his straight. If I renew next year with my school, what you're saying is that I am entitled to:
Severance
Renewal bonus
and Travel Allowance? |

| I thought it was one or the other as well. the 2,000 re sign bonus is basically flight money to go home and come back. ive never heard of anyone getting both. |

This would seem to be correct. From the 2011 EPIK contract template.
③ The Employer shall provide the Employee with a Contract Renewal Allowance of 2,000,000 Korean Won (KRW) within one month of the beginning of the new Term of Employment. In the case of Contract Renewal (and the payment of the subsequent Renewal Allowance), the GET shall not receive an Exit Allowance for the completion of the current Term of Employment nor shall the GET receive an Entrance Allowance for the renewal Term of Employment. |

Then someone made a mistake. If I were you I wouldn't cause a fuss because it would seem that you got money that you were not entitled to. |

| You got lucky when you got both. You were only supposed to get the renewal bonus. Travel money is only if you don't renew. |
