I know the Festival itself is over, but are the blossoms still in peak bloom?
I'm thinking about making a trip down there this weekend.

Also, it'll most likely be on a KTX late Friday from Seoul to Miryang Station. Any jimjilbangs or cheap love motels in the area? I'll need them to be open/accepting guests after 11pm or maybe 12am.

Also, general advice about Jinhae and locations in town to see great cherry blossoms.

Did anyone attend the Festival?

If it's still going on, the Naval base tour is pretty sweet.

In the years I lived there, the festival lasted 10 days and the blossoms were pretty well gone by the end of it. I don't know for a fact, but I'm guessing you are a week late.

Consider going to a festival farther north where the blossoms are more certain to still be out.

My friends and I went down this past weekend. Man, was it ever crowded. We were there 2 years ago but it didn't even compare to the amount of people this time. Pretty but not peaceful.

Thanks for the link to the video. It looks like they weren't quite peaking then, maybe I still have some time.

I've asked a few Koreans and they said this year is similar (although not as bad) as last year -- meaning the blossoms are later than usual.

jcan -- How did they look this past weekend?

Thanks for the help!

Where are you at? Seoul's trees are starting to bloom heavy right now. I filmed this today a minute away from my apartment:

Nice video^^ Looks like Seoul is really going off. Yeouido will be awesome this weekend.

I'm in Suwon, where some trees are blooming well, others are still starting. There is a beautiful grove near my school that's not quite there yet.

Alas, I've made plans to roll down to Jinhae and Gyeongju, though I may be a little late. I spoke with Jinhae city hall, they said the mountains are still blooming, though downtown trees are almost gone.

Down here in Changwon (right next to jinhae) the blossoms are still out but just barely, they are coming off the trees now. Still nice but definitely on the back end now

You can take a picture of yourself with cherry blossoms without having to brave those big crowds. There are cherry blossom trees all around Korea. I've seen them at schools, parks, and even around some subway stations.
