Not one, but two articles about K-pop. If only these people lived here and had to endure it as we do. Regardless, it could soon take over the world, and end civilization as we know it.
BTW, 'strict ant-piracy laws?'. They certainly don't seem to be enforced as far as I can tell.

Though having a hit with a K-Pop act may not rate as high in the cred-department as getting a cut with, say, Rihanna, the royalty payments more than make up for it.

'Enuff said. Despite all those Swedish songwriters making big bucks selling songs to Girls Generation, who's ever going to take K-pop seriously? Everyone knows it's all in the same vein as Samsung aping Apple, K-people can't even write their own tunes.

Bah Koreans could write their own music and have it sound like heaven and some people on here would still complain.

...then again, they could copy/plagiarize or simply buy other peoples' music and have it sound mediocre to bad and some people on here would still defend it.

So essentially, "foreigners" compose the songs, hot girls are found to sing meaningless gibberish over it and it sells like hotcakes - is this anything new for Korea?

Meh, I enjoy listening to some songs, especially the ballads. They are fun to sing. I don't care if it isn't the most innovative thing in the world.

People ripped disco for the same reasons. They need to lighten up.

That being said, if I want "quality" I'll go for K-Indie Estro-Coffee-Pop-Rock or some classic Shin Jung Hyun.

But I don't always want "quality".

To think their songs are not even written by Koreans. Kpop is garbage for the most part - just like most pop.

I dont really see what the big deal is: Kpop is big in Asia but really no big deal anywhere else. Really they are just exploiting the mysterious Asian stereotype and doing nothing else.
