I have an American laptop, and I was wondering, can I get a new battery here, or do I need to have one shipped from home? And if so, any recommendations on where to go?

Search Danawa and see if it is available in Korea. Expect to pay double what it would cost in the US.

The alley on the north side of the seon-in plaza at yongsan is the place to go.

You can also probably get them from some of the repair shops in seon-in plaza (refurbished will be cheaper than new).

Depending on the make/model of the battery it will probably cost you about 100k won for new and 1/2 that for refurb.

.
