I'm reading on the internet and it seems you can purchase AppleCare after you have already bought something.

I'm wondering a couple things:

1. Why does AppleCare need a shipping address? Is it something in a box that I need with my Apple product?

2. Does AppleCare cover cracked glass/LCD?

I've never had AppleCare before so I'm not sure what it is. I know it is an extended warranty, but is there a warranty card or something that needs to be shipped to you?

You can buy it at any time the original 1-year warranty is still valid. Once the original warranty is expired, you can no longer purchase AppleCare.

AppleCare will add an additional 2 years of warranty, for a total of 3 years.

It covers everything the original warranty covers, as well as associated products purchased at the same time. For example, if you buy an Apple Cinema Display or TimeCapsule at the same time you purchase the computer, it too will be covered under the 3-year warranty.

Cracked glass might or might not be covered. The same is true if you have only the one-year warranty. If the crack is deemed to be caused by the user, you are out of luck. If it is due to faulty glass/plastic, then it will be replaced under warranty.

Another advantage of AppleCare is that it can get you faster/better service, especially outside Korea... and, it is a global program, so you can use it in any country.

1. They need a shipping address to send you proof of coverage. You can enroll in Applecare 3 ways. a. You can buy it online, have it shipped to you and register your particular product online through the apple website. b. YOu can call an apple technician and buy it from them and they'll enroll it on your account and send you a letter stating your Applecare enrollment # which serves as your proof of purchase. 3. You should be able to go to an official apple store here in Korea and buy/enroll it. If you go with option a it's very important you enroll it.. most people get the box and then just throw it away assuming they have to do nothing with it.

2. Unless their has been a defect that happened because of Apple that caused the cracked screen/LCD then no, it doesn't. That would be considered accidental damage and you would have to pay for it to be fixed or replaced depending on the product. One thing to note, is that the Apple care is good from your date of purchase of your particular product not when you enroll the apple care. So, if your phone for example has a one year warranty and you decide to enroll your applecare after your warranty is up you're out of luck unless they decide to give you an exception (rarely granted)
