Found it at E-Mart today. Not much different than other K-beers, but not as sweet as regular OB Blue. They also had 500cc cans of Pilsner Urquell and Paulaner Hefe-weizen at 2,500 won a can. Not cheap, but great beers.
In addition, they have some decent red wines priced well under 10,000 a bottle. Can't hardly go wrong there. |

It's definitely hoppier than your standard Korean brew, which is a good thing. |

Agreed. And as much as people complain about K-beer, imo, it's slightly better than mass produced American swills, such as Bud and Miller.
Hite-D and now OB Golden Lager are definitely going in the right direction.
The American micro-brews, however, rule the brewing world. |

Really? I think those beers are terrible, but nothing is worse than Korean beer. After 6 months of Korean beer I had a Bud and it tasted like a fine crafted lager. |

So you think Korean beer is the worst beer in the world?
How do you feel about Korea in general?
I think there may be a correlation. |

I'm with rumdiary. Korean macros are based on (and worse than) American macros.
Korean beer is more on par with American sub-macros like Keystone and Natty.
I'd be overjoyed if Coors were here. It isn't good, but it's way more sessionable than K-beer.
As for worst in the world...Korea might be tied with Taiwan. Chinese Tsingtao is good, but I really think Taiwan uses a different, inferior recipe. It tasted bad in the hot weather, and that speaks volumes.
But I'm sure there's some 3rd world lager that I haven't tried that will be worse than Korean and Taiwanese beer.
Anyway thanks for the tip, willgive Gold a try if it turns up at a local mart. I typically pick up German export-piss when I'm at Emart, though. |

In Taiwan you're better off going with the Kirin produced beers, i.e. Bar Beer, or Taiwan Beer. They've got a bit more to them than Korean beers. do. And yes, I agree that Korean beers are basically on par with the kind of stuff you generally find at a frat party. |

Budlight >>>>>>>>>>>>> Korean beers
Not really sure why Korean beers suck so much either, kinda tastes a bit watered down? The sad thing is that I'm pretty used to it now. |

For me, it's Belgium that makes the world's best beers. I'm a big fan of Trappiste Rochefort 10, La Chouffe and Scaldis, etc..
In Korea, one of the best imported beers that is readily available in some of the bigger markets is Edelweiss. That's one tasty beer~
Korea is getting better at beer though.
A shot of gin, a rochefort 10 and then a bong hit and I'm quite content~
What the hell. Gimme some soju and a Cass Lemon! |

have you ever wondered why bud is so cheap? it's because it is OB with a bud label.
go ahead, scrutinize that bud bottle. you'll find the "OB" graphic shaped into the glass. brewed locally with the same fine ingredients as hite and cass. that is, soda water, food coloring, and ethanol.
remember that simpsons episode at the duff brewery, where one big vat of beer was divided into duff, duff light, and duff dry? that's k-beer in a nutshell. |

I think he was talking about a US Budweiser. Otherwise he wouldn't have waited 6 months. |

How so? Hite Dry Finish is an OK one, but they stopped selling Red Rock bottles (those were relatively great) and the recipe for Exfeel changed to Hite S(with fiber!)...actually I'm not sure if they still sell that either. |

Korean beer does suck. Max, Hite D, and OB Golden Lager are all a step in the right direction. They use proper ingredients and are better than standard OB, Cass, and Hite. Unfortunately they still fall short of a decent lager.
Some people might remember the Max limited edition runs which were great. Hopefully they will do another run soon.
Also, i'm still waiting for a Korean wheat beer.
Cheap half decent beers available in Emart and Homeplus include: Tesco lager (red and white can) 2100won at Homplus, Belgium wheat beer and pilsner 1600won at Emart, Oettinger export pilsner and wheat beer 2100won at Emart.
I also saw a cheap weissen in Lottemart once but i can't remember the name. |

Homeplus is also selling 5 tallboys of bud or miller lite for 10k... pretty cheap. and whoever compared K beer to American bud or miller is off their rocker. |
