A real Thanksgiving meal in Seoul...
It?s that time of year again Thanksgiving. Many of you from the US and Canada may be missing turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce, and ham (well, maybe not ham)... so especially for you who missed this holiday when it rolled around on November 24, we are announcing the (one week delayed) 6th Annual Yonsei Thanksgiving Dinner. Everyone is invited. Feel free to bring a guest or two or three or even ten if you like.
The more the merrier!

This event is open to anyone, including people not at all associated with Yonsei. You?re welcome to invite anyone you want last year we had people from at least ten different countries enjoying this great North American tradition.

Just as in previous years, the traditional Thanksgiving fare will be catered from the four-star hotel at the USFK?s Yongsan Garrison, so it promises to be as authentic as you?ll get in South Korea. Although it?s one week after American Thanksgiving, the turkey will still taste the same.

The Thanksgiving get-together will be on Sunday, December 4. Because of the high number of guests in the past few years, we will again have two different dinner times, one at 2:00 p.m. and the other at 5:00 p.m. As usual, it will be held on the 1st floor of the Millennium Hall at Yonsei University (that?s the building where most ID and GSIS classes are). [Detailed directions also found here.]

The cost is W17,000 for those who make arrangements by Friday, December 2. For those who do not pre-register, the cost is W22,000. If possible, please submit funds to KB Bank account #001-24-0520-041.

Food must be ordered from Yongsan?s Dragon Hill Lodge in advance, so we need to have an approximate number of guests by Thursday evening, December 1. The order should be finalized by Friday, December 2. It may be possible to accept latecomers after Friday on a first-come, first-served? basis, but it?s best to confirm earlier. I would appreciate it if you could let me know by email as soon as possible if you can come and if you?ll be bringing guests, because I have to have an idea how many turkeys and hams to order (one turkey or ham, plus all the trimmings, feeds ten people.

Finally, we need a number of VOLUNTEERS for food service, planning, money collection, food serving, food delivery, etc. Eight food servers will be able to eat for free. Other volunteers will still also have to pay for their meal, but the leftover turkey, ham, and pie will be divided among those who help.

If you?re planning to come, please let us know right away (preferably by email: [email protected])! And feel free to call with any questions or comments.
