|
|
Just out of curiosity, since there are many well seasoned travelers on the forum, I wanted to know what is your least favorite vacation spot in Asia and why.
I've been around SE Asia a fair bit and so far, I've liked visiting Manila the least. I'd be willing to go elsewhere in the Philippines, but I'd think twice about spending more than a day or two in Manila.
Any thoughts? |

I know I'm in the minority here, but there is nothing I like about the place. |

Not even the hot springs, or more to the point, not even the lovely creatures with whom you could visit a spa with? |

Meh, I'll take the "creatures" in the Philippines, Thailand, etc. over them any day. |

I'd vote Manila though I have to say the casinos and shopping were great. Good place to stay for one night before getting out to Boracay or Bohol.
Pattaya was a cess pool of prostitutes, ladyboys, and crime. Would never go back. |

Yeah, I hated Manila a lot more prior to spending 14 hours in Pattaya. |

I've heard on various occasions that Shanghai is worse than Beijing due to that it's more spread out and businessy with more sky-rise apartments and office towers with not much entertainment.
I'd love to get lost in Beijing but I'm the type who would need an attractive translator of the opposite sex to guide me around.
Spending a 2-3 nights in Japan at a time is enough. Fukuoka is more laid back than say Osaka or Tokyo thus explaining my frequent baseball trips there. I'll finally make it to Hiroshima someday as well as Mt. Fuji. |

i dont see how anyone can dislike the kansai area. that place has something for everyone. great nightlife - osaka. history - kyoto, nara. nature - beaches, mountains.
what do you look for in a travel destination? i lived there 8 months and im still starved for more.
i'd vote sk as my worst travel destination. not the worst to live in though.
and i thought beijing was way better than shanghai, too. many more sights and a lot more character |

I'd say the place I regret visiting the most is Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. The beaches sucked, the food was nothing like I expected (I'd heard that Malaysian food was reason enough to visit the country), the natives weren't friendly, prices were high for SE Asia, and well, I just never got the vibe I usually get when I'm in SE Asia.
I'd also say Taipei and Fukuoka were also places I don't care to visit again. They just seem like different versions of Seoul. |
