|
|
I'm in the U.S. and need to have a computer for editing videos in Korea. Has any person parted their computer and shipped it to Korea?
The parts are worth about 2500 USD. Would it better to pay for the shipping and import taxes, or cheaper and easier to just buy the parts once I get there?
Thanks |

Do you need to pay import taxes for used electronics?
Can't someone just check in their boxed computer? |

Pop out the power supply, put the computer in a box and bring it with you as checked baggage. Problems solved. No import issues and easy to travel.
I HAVE done this many times and it is no big problem.
If you ship it the parts will be subject to import taxes and/or loss.

| Thanks, ttompatz, but I think I'll need something else from your bag of tricks. I am taking 2 suit cases, 1 box of film equipment, and 1 very big dog. |

| Take out the CPU, memory, HD and MB and bring those with you. Those should take minimal space and weight. Be careful packing the HD (assuming non-SSD) and motherboard. The case, PS, CPU cooler and optical drives are pretty cheaply bought once in Korea. |
