So I understand that most, if not ALL, jobs in Korea require a federal background check. Here is my current problem:
I'm a U.S. citizen but I'm currently working in Shanghai, China.
I'm aiming to get to Korea this summer (August 1st) to begin a Korean language program.
ALSO, I don't have the funds or the time to fly back to the U.S. to get the background check in person.
Is there anyway to get this done in Shanghai and then have the results available when I get to Korea? OR I must do this in person back in the U.S.???

Visit the FBI website for instructions. Also, if you aren't going to be on an E-2 visa, you won't need it unless your employer requires it. |

You can apply for a Criminal Record Check from overseas - just takes time and some hassles - send it here send it there. The question is have your worked in Korea before on an E-2? If not you will likely have to fly back to the States for an Embassy interview. Sorry!
But rereading if you are coming over to just study - I do not think it requires a criminal record check. |
