I just got notice from my PS that medical insurance is now including your housing allowance on top of your base salary to calculate your rate. Before it was just your base salary.
Can anyone confirm this?
What about pension? |

There is something that changed because I got paid today for the month and my insurance jumped from 60,000 to 141,000. That seems like too big of an increase if they are just adding my 400,000won apartment in the deduction. I didn't have time to ask the details but I will on Monday. I'm at a middle school in Uiwang. |

I got told the same thing, but my school told me that they were also including the price of my plane ticket over here. Sounds pretty lame to me. |

Yeah, just happened to me too. For the past year my school was basing my deduction on my salary alone and apparently they should have been basing it on my salary + housing allowance. Essentially, my deduction was off by 14.xxx a month. This month's large deduction is to make up for what I should have been paying all along. According to the lady I spoke with at NHIC the rate will go back down next month.
I also called the pension office and was told that my rate is correct and will not increase. I asked why 4.5% was not being taken out of my check and they kept saying the deduction is figured out with a special formula. I still don't get it |
