|
|
I am planning on moving to SoKo around august. I play a decent amount of NL Texas Holdem in cash games with limits up to 5-5 200 min buy in here in the states for extra cash and im wondering what is the poker scene like in SoKo Seoul in particular?
Specifically any casinos or decent amount of house games?
Thanks! |

Co-ex 7Luck doesn't have any more poker? Used to play there all the time, but that was probably a year ago. |

About a year ago the casino cash games were juicy. $1/2 $500 max buy-in - loose gambling basically. $2/5 $1000 max buy-in - great if you've got the bankroll, game plays even more recklessly. $5/10 NO MAX buy-in (I never ventured there) - huge game, sophisticated tough players.
That's Seoul, Co-ex 7Luck and Walker hill. Not sure about Busan or elsewhere. |

When you do get to Korea, remember that it's illegal to gamble except in specific places (government-licensed foreigners-only casinos). Advertising any privately-run poker games or getting caught participating in them can land you in legal trouble that you do not want. |

Which is a really shame, it would be nice to be able to organise a friendly low-stakes game without having to worry about some legal bullshit. |

Alternate Q- Are real money, online games acceptable for US citizens if off-shore (ie S Korea?) |

Actually Walker Hill has an uncapped buyin for 1/2 after you bust your intial buyin so some people buyin for $100 (min), bust, then rebuy for like a grand. 1/2 plays like a juicy 2/5 game in the states. Min buyin for 2/5 here is $200.
5x5 here is insane. Min buyin normally is $500 and you should really sit down with at least a grand.
@alljokingaside: Yeah you used to be able to play on any US sites but I'm in the process of trying to get my address changed to SK so I can play on Pokerstars and Fulltilt again.
Edit: rake is also really really bad at walker. Like 10% capped at 15 for 1/2. Kinda hard to beat the rake here. |
