|
|
I've been here for about six months and I'm DYING to have a taste of home. What I mean by this is Poke, Laulau of some sort, and poi. It's not even things I eat at home very often, but the craving for it came on suddenly and I've been searching EVERYWHERE for some hawaiian food, but even though Korea seems to be obsessed with Hawaii (like most places) there isn't a single Hawaiian restaurant. Anyone wanna point me in the right direction?
I'm in Seoul BTW, and I've heard there's one in Busan but that's horribly out of the way just food D: |

Then shouldn't your thread title be "Hawaiian restaurants in Seoul?"
I've eaten at the one in Busan by the way, it was so-so. |

Can't remember exactly, but it was in the "Chinatown" area across from Busan Station. Don't recall the name, but it definitely had "Hawaiian" in the title. |

A year ago there was a place in Ilsan. I am not sure if it is still there, I haven't been by there in probably a year. It was on the outside of La Festa, I think the name was Hawaiian BBQ. Someone else who lives around there should be able to say if it is still there or not.
The couple of times I ate there it was just o.k. It was not traditional Hawaiian food. I would describe it more like Hawaiian influenced. Some of the flavors were close, but more fast food stuff. It is probably not what you want, but might get you by until you can get what you want. |

I doubt you'll find lau lau or poi anywhere. Poke is really easy to make but the quality of tuna in Korea isn't that great. Lomi salmon is pretty easy, too. With a little work, you can make things like kalua pig and chicken long rice. Local dishes like bbq chicken & mac salad are pretty easy, too. |

i found loco moco at one of those cafe/restaurant places on the han river. it was pretty good too, not as good as the hawaiin plate lunches i used to eat. i think you could definately make a better one though. |

I saw one in Hongdae. It was in the alley behind By The Way and WaraWara. |
