|
|
a key part to the successful enjoyment of my hagwon classes is to play short games sometimes at the end of class.
my games involve using a boardmarker...so im not sure how to handle a kid in my class who has an awful herpes outbreak on his face. he keeps scrathing it with his hands.
im not happy to let him use my boardmarker for fear of contamination. so not sure how to approach this.
would prefer not to have to find new games. if i make him bring his own boardmarker to class, he might forget to bring it. i guess i could tell him, he can particiapte, but he cant have a turn at the front of the class using the boardmarker. ie hangman game or draw & guess the picture game.
dont like having to single out students for things outside their control,,,
any advice? |

Wash your hands after class, and make sure you do not touch your face during class?
Get some of those sanitary wipes (Clorox wipes or whatever) and wipe down the marker between students?
Get some hand sanitizer, and use it after the game?
Require all students to use the hand sanitizer before touching your markers?
Have several different markers, and hand the "diseased" kid your pariah marker, which you then take back with tongs, so as not to get any onya?
I have seen people with cold sores, but never that folks were "scratching." Cold sores hurt like hell to even touch, let alone scrape with the nails...are you sure it is herpes/cold sores? |

What are you having them use the marker for?
I found it easier to write for students. They tell me the answer (practice speaking) and then I write it.
If they have to write something, I have paper of various sizes. I give them about a quarter of a page usually and they write with a pencil. They learn to write not too big, and then they have these to refer to during the lesson instead of a board which you constantly erase stuff.
It seems you are too board dependent. |

My school gets a bunch of smaller dry-erase boards. Give each kid their own, then spray the shiz out of them with Detol after they leave. |

Keep a marker for yourself in your pocket. Keep markers near the board for the kids. |
