I am really considering teaching ESL in South Korea, but I'm not sure which area I want to teach in. I must admit that I am not really a big city person and don't care too much about the nightlife. I would prefer a place with lots of outdoorsy stuff to do.

Any suggestions?

Another quick question, do Hagwons require you to have letter of recommendations? I know PS requires them.

Thanks for the help!

You'd probably like Chuncheon. Nice small city about 2 hours east of Seoul. Plenty of mountains and outdoorsy stuff in Gangwon-do.

If you want to be closer to Seoul, look at Dongtan or Ilsan, which are really nice planned communities.

Ilsan or Bundang, if you want to be outside of Seoul.

Busan is cool.

Yeosu sounds nice too.
