No mention of them. No request for promises to get the nationwide CBC or apostilled diploma. Nothing.

yes, they now give you 13 months. yes, you no longer need to buy stamps for multiple entry visa.

process took less than 5 mins. It was fabulous.

That's because it is a renewal. They are cutting some slack on this until 2012. Next year when, and if, you want to return to your place of employment, you will need a nationwide criminal check. Just enjoy the grace period because Immi doesn't usually make it this easy.

yeah, but you're missing the story here.

Had I not stumbled upon this forum and read about the new regulations here, I would have been completely oblivious and unaware of them.

The school has told me nothing and immi has told me nothing so next year I can completely play the stupid card and give them that I have no idea what you're talking about look.

or am I supposed to be aware of every piece of useless and obscure legislation that comes out of the Korean legislature?

We called immigrations on Wednesday and was told that you needed you
CBC apostilled this year. Then I called Immigration hotline and was told that I didn't need anything this year.

When I renewed in Feb (?) they wanted me to sign a form saying I was aware of the new regulations and would be prepared for them next year. I had the documents already so I just handed them over and didn't sign the form. Weird that they aren't mentioning it now. Maybe it's turned out to be too much hassle.

When I did it in early March, they mentioned nothing about it. I just handed my stuff to the guy and within five minutes I was done. Maybe it depends on who talks to you that day?

lol

That doesn't mean they're obligated to renew your contract if you don't have the documents ready. Your employer will be screwed and you'll be out of a job.

EVERY recruiter I have talked to has said you need a CBC. This has been a regular thing for a year or so.

yes, but I never talk to recruiters. I'm already here and working here and renewed with my school. Neither the school nor immi has told me anything about the new regulations. Obviously that doesn't mean they don't exist and I'll surely be required to abide by them next year, but imagine I had not read about them on this site, and would simply walk into Immi next year without them handy.

The immigration hotline doesn't always give explicitly accurate information. I took some of their advice last year when all these regulations were being juggled, and it cost me a visa.

Best to cover all your bases in advance. Things are v. unpredictable here.

Yes, I renewed last week and they told me that next yr I would need the CBC and degree. I had the cbc just in case and handed it to them. Now I have 12 months to get my degree apostilized.

An Angel avatar..wow, never thought I would see that one. I did think "Helluva band" was pretty cool. Good band, the antithesis(supposedly) of Kiss at the time. They wore all white.
