Just wondering your opinion...who is at fault and should I complain and insist on higher pay?
I got a visa through a recruiting agency that own a school. At the time I was doing business work at a company for them at 45,000 won. After I got a visa I started working at a second company for them and it took them almost 4 weeks to tell them how much money I'd make there. They told me almost half a dozen times that the salary would be comparable to the first job. Then all of a sudden, they come at me with 30,000/hr...for a business JOB! We settled on 35,000 when I threatened to quit and even though this is low, I didn't mind it because one hour is teaching and the other hour is editing in the office, but for the most part, it's surfing the net. I do however have to prepare for 2 different classes that rotate every other day. Then, all of a sudden the company wants to fill in the space of the second hour with another class, an advanced class that meets 3 times a week. So for one company, I have to prepare material for 3 separate business classes. This takes forever, and sometimes I even have to skip lunch. I asked the recruitors for a boost in pay for them springing a 3 class at me and they refused. The hours I have to spend to prepare and teach material for 3 different business classes for one company is way to much to be paid in Kindergarten wages (35,000). What do you think I should do? Do I have a right to complain? I consider 35,000 an hour to be extremely low to teach business anyway...especially since they pay me 45,000 elsewhere, and that's the norm...am I getting shafted? |

No, you are not. 35,000 is much more than most teachers make legally. This is a legal job as you said. So, I don't see why you are complaining. Where did you hear kindergarten teachers make 35,000 per hour. That may be the rate for illegal work, you you said you are working legally for a company. |
