Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any stores that carry US sizes 12 and up around Seoul for women. I know Uniqlo in NYC I was a size 12 so I was also wondering if the one in korea is similar in sizes.

thanks.

There are several shops in Itaewon that carry plus-size clothing. My favorite one is OKBT. It's in the same building as a shoe store on the second floor. It's a few blocks from Itaewon Station on the right side. Walk from Itaewon Station with Hamilton Hotel on your right. You will see OKBT in big letters on the second floor of the building. You have to go in through a shoe store and up the stairs on the right. The owner of the shop is really nice and speaks English. I like her shop because she has more to choose from and more variety than other shops I have been to. Be warned that there is no dressing room. You just go in the storeroom and if there are other people trying on clothes, so be it.

I second OKBT - the owner has a knack for knowing what will look good on you. So many times, things that I would never pick up, she will convince me to try, and sure enough, it flatters.

Another option is the A&HNy outlet in the same builidng as Nashville. Some nice brand names there, though last time I was there, there were a lot more s-m sizes than the usual plus.

Edited to add: OKBT - Last time I was there, she didn't have the size I needed on a pair of pants ( I tried on an alternate color for size ). She offered to order them in and then have them delivered to my home for no extra cost. She tends to go the extra mile for faithful customers.

Yes, I'm pretty sure H&M goes up to American 14, maybe 16. Not sure about Uniqlo, their pants may stop at the 8-10 size, but maybe not.

Not sure what its called, but the used-clothing store with the two Blues Brothers figures on top along the main Sinchon street. I know theres more around town. I actually found 2 pairs of 38w-36l pants (6'7"), and some shirts that fit (no size 15 shoes though), pretty amazing for Korea. Seems like they would have a decent selection of larger clothers for women too.

H&M and Uniqlo carry 'Asian sizes'; that is, a M is really a S, and a L is a M, etc.

I once calculated the largest pair of pants at Uniqlo, and I don't remember exactly what it was but I think it was something like a size 29 or 30.

Actually most of the clothes at H&M follow a number system rather than S,M,L system. 32 being a size 2, 34 being a size 4 and so on. I think I am about a size 8 or 10 in the US and size 38 from H&M here in Korea fits me well. I haven't really seen anything larger than a 44 (US size 14) in the H&M in Myeong dong as they dont stock very many of the larger sizes so they get snatched up fairly quickly.

You might have better results at Forever21 in Myeongdong. They follow the S,M,L system and it really varies on the style of the piece of clothing whether the Large will actually be a large like in the US. I fit a medium in the US but most of the time I can only fit into a Large in Korea, sometimes the large is actually a very small medium and I can't fit it and sometimes the large is huge on me. It's really frustrating sometimes. However since the style in Korea is fairly loose fitting clothes, you may have luck there.
