Hmmmmm......

I had an initial interview for a job with CDI. I got it. I sent in my freshly signed contract only to be told that I have a second interview.

I sent in the only copy of my notarized degree and I'm kind of locked into it.

Anyone have any experience with the "Second" interview regrading CDI?

It's supposed to consist of a reading exercise and mostly focused on teaching techniques.

If this goes south for some reason can I lose this contract? I don't mind searching for another gig but I've spent two weeks pursuing this one already and I'd really hate to lose it now.

I have some friends who work at CDI in my town and they never mentioned any kind of second interview they had to do. Sounds like a dodgy tactic to me and if it does result in them saying they do not want to hire you anymore, then you should probably thank your lucky stars. If you're in it for the money, then you will get what you want. If not, be prepared to work A LOT and possibly be shafted out of many typical benefits other hagwans offer (, severance, paid holidays, sick days, etc.).

I had to do two interviews when i applied to CDI. The first time was more of a get to know me by a recruiter that would be passed onto the owner. The second one was more directed to the owner's actual questions. I think both times it was just a video chat that was video recorded and passed on to the owner.
Always try to talk to someone who works there of course.

I have my 'second' interview tonight! I spoke to the HR of the school and apparently it's to evaluate reading/oral abilities. But that I'm still undergoing the hiring process. But from what I've read, it seems like with CDI teachers will always be under evaluation. That being said, how did your interview go? Any tips?

I am in the same situation, but I went through Aclipse recruiting. I did my second interview and received an offer of employment letter. I had to sign that and send all of my documents over. I have been waiting to hear back from them...

As for tips, I was told to be "energetic and show a dynamic personality."

You have to have a 'second interview' to get hired at CDI? That's funny.

cdi is being sued for illegal employment practice, cheating their teachers out of severance and other benefits.

second interview is required to ensure the new teachers are naive and won't sue them. Razz

You are aware that CDI does not follow Korean law?

Luckily for CDI not all teachers read ESLcafe. There will always be people drawn in by their high upfront salary who dont think of the money they miss out of on the back end.

I'm currently going through the application process right now. All I'm reading on this site is the negative review of this school, but I have a friend who's currently at the school and he says he loves it. I'm a bit confused with who to trust.

Its a gamble. Each branch is owned by a different manager so experiences will vary. CDI in general is bad, although its not universally bad if that makes sense.

That and your friend might not know the contract terms he has are unfair or that he's being possibly cheated, hypothetically.

The location that sounds like "Napo" is shady. Gangnam office-gu nice. Personal opinion.
