It seems that Chinese people here in Shanghai have found out about Koreatown and are going there in hordes much to the chagrin of the Koreans that live in the city. I've heard on several occasions in the office recently from co-workers that they don't even like going there anymore (for the ones that don't live there) or that a new area needs to be established somewhere else in the city in order to have their own place of comfort without intrusion from locals. |

The Central Committee will see to that sort of attitude. If they don't want Chinese coming in, move back to Korea. |

They always could do that of course. Or they could just accept it, move on and further immerse themselves into the society in which they choose to live. I'm fairly sure that the businesses there aren't changing to accommodate local's tastes, so what exactly is the issue I wonder? |

You haven't changed your avatar, despite repeated requests from everyone. I won't ban you from these forums, but consider this your final warning SteelHeart.

I got one request to change my avatar and one request to keep it. I am on the prowl for one as lately the Pistons have been such an embarrassment that not even 'Sheed can save them. |

How about posting on thread topic, pal? Or is that asking for too much? We could easily blame the derailment on dbb, but you chose to carry it on, so... |

Apology accepted, though not needed. Now, if only the other guy that is part of the "Central Committee" can suck it up. I'm not going to hold my breath on that one, however. |

Oh for goodness sakes, lighten up! (As I hope you were by being tongue in cheek with the whole exchange) |

Nah, the original post stands as is. Why would you expect anything different?
Furthermore, why do you suppose some temporary guests would have a problem with locals frequenting an area in their own city? Aren't the businesses benefitting from increased traffic? |

"a new area needs to be established somewhere else in the city in order to have their own place of comfort without intrusion from locals."
Are you referring to the Korean community in Pudong New Area?
Hello, Koreans, you are not in Korea. Like they say: When in Rome, well this is "when in China."
God forbid, the Chinese are coming! The Chinese are coming!
Deal with it or pack up and return to Korea.
I thought you were referring to Ktown LA, but then I thought after all the positive experiences I had living and working there, the Koreans I was with didn't have this kind of attitude.
Seriously, it's almost as bad as the poster who said "how to keep Koreans out of Itaewon."
Some people are just clueless and arrogant. Seriously. You would think that an increased amount of Chinese, in an area of China, which is in fact their country, would be beneficial to the local economy. Guess not. |

Admittedly the thread and the content within are ironic considering; it is based on actual events, however.
@LPKSA, no, Koreatown (韩国城) in Shanghai is in the Changning district, specifically Gubei. |
